Each team builds a locked box that operates on the principles of physics, able to be opened by you in less than five minutes but that will keep opponents stumped for at least 10 minutes.
Students from across Canada compete in a national tournament held each February. Teams put their designs to the test as judges score each safe not only for being pick-proof, but also for its originality, clever use of physics, and overall presentation. Extra points are awarded for each safe a team successfully cracks, making strong design and sharp problem-solving key to success.
Audience: Grade 11 and 12 students from Canada with an interest in physics..
