We warmly invite you to an intimate evening of science and conversation with Prof. Ofer Yizhar, the Joseph and Wolf Lebovic Charitable Foundation Chair for Research in Neuroscience at the Weizmann Institute of Science, co-hosted by FORM and Weizmann Canada in Toronto on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. 

Prof. Yizhar’s research explores how brain circuits shape behaviour and how disruptions in these circuits can contribute to conditions such as chronic pain, autism, schizophrenia, epilepsy, and mood and anxiety disorders.  

A pioneer in optogenetics, a technique that combines genetic engineering and light to control the activity of specific brain cells, Prof. Yihzar is developing technologies that allow scientists to control and study neural circuits with remarkable precision, opening new possibilities for understanding and treating brain-related disorders. 

His work has already led to the creation of Modulight Biotherapeutics, a company based on his technology that is developing precise ways to treat severe brain disorders that have limited options.
