The Weizmann League young professionals is proud to host two outstanding PhD students from the Weizmann Institute of Science.
Neurobiologist Akiva Rappaport and physicist Michal Shavit will discuss their cutting-edge research and their experience as grad students on the Weizmann campus.
Refreshments and light snacks will be provided (Kashruth observed).
This event is intended for science and innovation enthusiasts and young professionals who are keen on learning more about the Weizmann Institute of Science.
Akiva was born and raised in the New York area. He received his BSc in neuroscience from Bar-Ilan University, his MSc in neurobiology from the University of Halifa, and is now working on his PhD in the Department of Neurobiology at the Weizmann Institute, in the lab of Prof. Ilan Lampl.
Michal Shavit grew up in Karney Shomron and took an early interest in math. She received her MSc in particle physics at the Weizmann Institute, and is currently doing a PhD in hydrodynamics – the study of the motion of fluids – in theoretical physics, under the guidance of Prof. Gregory Falkovich in the Department of Physics of Complex Systems.
