About this event

At what age did you first think about the power of science?
Why is science important in your life?
What led you to become involved in investing in the future of humanity?

These are all questions that our parents would have likely had different answers to than each of us. Because of developments in science available to us today, the world-renowned Weizmann Institute of Science provides a unique opportunity for investment in the future of humanity that would make any generation proud.

Join us to hear about research that is changing lives from the Weizmann Institute’s Prof. Irit Sagi, Vice President for Innovation and Technology Transfer.

Weizmann has an over 70-year history and is renowned for its bold, agile and collaborative research environment, making it among the top research institutions in the world. It is the only non-U.S. institution among the likes of Harvard, Princeton and MIT in the top eight of the prestigious Leiden Ranking.

Prof. Sagi will provide an overview of Weizmann and what makes it unique on a global stage. She will also highlight her own groundbreaking research in the Department of Immunology and Regenerative Biology, where she explores the role of tissue remodeling enzymes in health and disease, to treat invasive disease states such as cancer and inflammation (for example, Crohn’s disease or inflammatory bowel disease). A key development in Prof. Sagi’s work includes the recent discovery that antibodies that were found in cancer tumors could actually fight cancer and improve immunotherapy.

The discussion is hosted by Fasken’s Yoni Feingold, Partner, who will be joined by Associate Counsels, Frédéric Barriault and Jonathan Charron to discuss different estate planning tools. We are also honoured to be joined by Joanne Nemeroff as a Co-Chair of Weizmann Canada’s prestigious Vera and Chaim Weizmann Honor Society.
