Celebrating our Canadian Footprint
55 years of Weizmann Canada

Over the past 55 years the Weizmann Canada community has grown from a handful of supporters to hundreds, with chapters in four major Canadian cities.

Weizmann Canada’s philanthropic partners all share a common goal irrespective of the size of the giftthey are each helping to make the world a better place by supporting science for the benefit of humanity. Over the past 55 years our community has grown from a handful of supporters to hundreds, with chapters in four major Canadian cities and more than $18 million invested this year alone to support the life-changing work happening at the Weizmann Institute of Science.

The Limitless Gala, held this past May in Montreal, celebrated gifts of $3.8 million, net of expenses. It not only set a fundraising record for the host city, but also celebrated 19 projects funded by our philanthropic partners.

The International Board Meeting, which will be held in November, will also celebrate our growing Canadian footprint. Along with 17 new inscriptions of Canadian supporters being added to the donor wall, the Institute will officially dedicate the Dr. Barry Sherman Institute for Medicinal Chemistry and host a special celebration honouring the Beck family.

As our footprint grows and changes, so too do our events. Our yearly Celebrating Philanthropy event, dedicated to thanking and honouring the contributions of our philanthropic partners and volunteers, has been re-imagined and expanded to feature one of Weizmann Canada’s strategic initiatives each year. In this, its inaugural year of the new format, Celebrating Philanthropy will feature Wonderful Women.

Thank you for being part of our first 55 years. Your support has helped us grow, put Canada in the spotlight, and most importantly empowered scientists to continue the ground-breaking research that is helping to make the world a better place. Your support has already sent a spacecraft to the moon and aided in finding new treatments for cancer. There is no limit to what can be accomplished next.
